Adrien Loron and Fernanda Gildemeister, MTB Downtown champions
The MTB Downtown of the XXVI edition of Marisquiño has, once again, been a success. Under a radiant sun and with the streets packed, a hundred riders went down one after another from the top of the Castro, passing through the narrow streets of the Casco Vello and reaching a new and spectacular finish at the A Laxe Leisure Center throughout the morning, previewing the circuit.
In the afternoon, the first of the two timed rounds took place, which determines the -reverse- starting order for the grand final. The fastest in this run was local rider Antonio Ferreiro, closely followed by the Frenchman Adrien Loron and the Catalan Oriol Alcalá. But in the final there were changes in the results. Loron was able to push a little harder and took the victory. By only 0.8 over Marco Veiga (second), 1.6 over Hector Quinteiro (third) and 1.8 over Antonio Ferreiro (fourth). A very tight final.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category the fastest in qualifying was the Chilean Fernanda Gildemeister, who was competing in Vigo for the first time, followed by the two-time champion Sara Yusto (very close behind) and further back Alba Rodríguez. Here there were no changes in the final descent. Yusto could not achieve her fourth victory in Vigo, a win that went to Chile. Congratulations to everyone!
