MTB Downtown returns to the heart of Vigo
The MTB Downtown will once again be one of the highlights of Marisquiño 2026. On next Saturday, August 8, some of the best national and international urban downhill specialists will transform the streets of Vigo's Old Town into one of the most spectacular and unique circuits in the world.
Few events represent the spirit of Marisquiño as well as this one. A discipline born for the mountains that, in Vigo, finds a unique setting among walls, stairways, historic squares, and sea views. A route that combines heritage, sport, and spectacle like very few places on the planet.
An already iconic route
The race will once again start from Fortress of O Castro, the highest point in the city center, to descend the slopes of the hill, cross the Old Town, and finish by the sea, in the area of A Laxe. The course will feature 1 kilometer of distance and 135 meters of elevation gain, while maintaining the spectacular passage over the elevated walkway that connects the historic center with the shopping center.
As the main new feature for 2026, the organization will introduce technical improvements at several points on the circuit with the aim of promoting greater speed and even more spectacular jumps.
Where to watch
For those who want to enjoy the competition live, the organizers especially recommend five points along the route: the Monument to the Rande Galleons, Praza do Rei, the Elduayen area and the A Oliveira viewpoint, Praza da Colexiata, and the finish line at A Laxe, where much of the atmosphere and excitement of the event is concentrated.
Registration open
Registration to take part in the festival’s sporting competitions will open on June 4 through the Marisquiño website.
