Vigo crowns Saúl and Tere Spanish BMX Freestyle champions

National BMX Freestyle returned to Vigo this weekend to contest its Spanish Championship in a venue very familiar to Marisquiño: the Navia Skatepark. There, Saúl Vilar and Teresa Fernández-Miranda once again demonstrated their dominance and defended the Spanish Élite champion titles they won in 2025.

For Saúl Vilar, competing in Navia also meant competing at home. The Galician rider knows this skatepark perfectly; it is part of his daily life and is also closely linked to Marisquiño: it is one of the spaces used for the BMX workshops that the festival brings to different parts of Vigo. Saúl took the win with 93.33 points, ahead of Adrián Ventureira (90.66) and Javier de la Torre (90.00), two other good friends of the festival.

In the women’s category, Teresa Fernández-Miranda once again claimed the Spanish champion jersey thanks to a score of 82.66, surpassing Laura Carrera Aldudo (62.66). Tere is also a great friend of Marisquiño, both for her participations, wins and podium finishes and for her professional connection with the festival itself. This year she was working on building the park.

The connection with Marisquiño also extended to the organization. The championship was organized by Cromoly Club, which is also responsible for Marisquiño’s BMX Freestyle competition, strengthening the bond between the festival and a local scene that continues to grow throughout the year.

The day also crowned two new Spanish champions in the Junior category. Daniel Pedroche won the men’s title with 92.66 points, joined on the podium by Darío de la Fuente and Matías López. In the women’s category, Lara Santamaría made history by becoming the first Spanish Junior BMX Freestyle Park champion, ahead of María Blanco and Sofía Casal.

A championship with plenty of Marisquiño flavor that once again placed Vigo and the Navia Skatepark at the center of Spanish BMX Freestyle.
