Trailer for the documentary BEAUTY: Marisquiño, a stage for inclusion
Coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the trailer for BEAUTY, a documentary short film that focuses on adaptive sports and was filmed in the context of the 25th anniversary of Marisquiño.
This audiovisual project, directed by José del Corral and Edu Muñoz, is a sensitive and forceful look at body diversity, the power of community, and the beauty of difference. Marisquiño is not just the setting: it is an active part of the message, with its adaptive skate and BMX competitions —supported by the BIMBAY LOLA Foundation— serving as the epicenter of the filming.
One of the film's protagonists is Alejandro Marín, an orthoprosthetic engineer and rider who has been amputated since the age of 14. In Vigo, Alejandro participated as a speaker and immersed himself in a experience that goes far beyond the sports: riders from different countries and with different disabilities sharing ramps, visibility, and pride.
Far from the heroic or condescending stories that often depict disability, BEAUTY chooses a contemporary, social, inclusive narrative. Difference is neither an obstacle nor an exception but a legitimate way to occupy public space and enjoy urban sports in community.
Vigo and Marisquiño become in this short the stage of a celebration without labels, where freedom and creativity soar beyond the body. The trailer is just a first glimpse: the full documentary premiere will reach festivals in 2026 and will also be presented at a special event in Vigo. Coming soon...
